Today we celebrate the 22nd Sunday in OT. Clearly our focus today is on humility. Humility has probably never been popular for anyone, even for the best of saints. On the other hand, lots of saints have practiced humility simply by always putting the well-being of others ahead of their own well-being.
Humility does not mean acting humble but actually being humble and drawing no attention to ourselves. This is why generally truly humble people are loved so much. They make life easier for all of us, they take up the burdens and responsibilities of community without drawing attention to themselves and they serve others with joy.
The Eucharist which we now celebrate is the divine banquet for all of us. Here and now we meet Jesus who is our Savior and Lord. Holy Mass is the key to the narrow gate of heaven. Are we now willing to accept humiliations for the sake of loving God and others?

„Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled.”

- MY MISSION: When I am the disciple of Christ and the active member of his Church I realize this and participate in all matters which concern Him. The Ordinary Time Liturgy of the Holy Mass is not my challenge it is my privilege and way to salvation also the proof of my real membership.
- It is prayer which will help the person who is bad because everybody – it doesn’t matter who – has been created by the same loving hand. Christ’s love is always stronger than the evil in the world, so we need to love and to be loved: it’s as simple as that. This shouldn’t be such a struggle to achieve. (Mother Teresa – A Simple Path)

One Main Point
Humility is not a matter of putting ourselves down, but humility is recognizing that we are nourished, gifted by God and then reaching out to others in the same way.
Reflections
- In which way am I nourished and gifted by God?
- Out of this gratitude, how have I reached out to others to share what God gives them through me?
