Today we celebrate the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
This time we learn more about our discipleship for Jesus. We have to be as the athlete who in the Olympic Games has to fight for the ultimate rewards. The transposition of our attitude on that comparison is very meaningful: we are the people who need to fight so that we can win our whole life. We have to be sometimes against the people whom we loved to find the best at the end for our spiritual life. As an athlete we have to have only one point as our goal – the salvation with Jesus Christ then we will be OK with everyone and everything around us.
The Eucharist is the time when we realize that we can sacrifice everything for Jesus Christ to be his disciples. From the other side we must assume that, as the needs arise, God gives to us whatever strength we will need when the time comes to do what needs to be done.

„Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.”

One Main Point
Jesus challenges us to take up the demands of discipleship. It demands everything we are and everything we have.
Reflections
- What are the costs of discipleship in my case? What possessions and relationships do I need to forgo? What to foster?
- To the extent that I have been able to follow Christ, what results have I experienced? To the extent that I have shied away from following Christ, what have been the results?
- What concrete steps do I plan for my life: staying the current course, or making specific changes? How will I be able to do it?
