Today we celebrate the 34th Sunday in Ordinary Time. And it is Christ the King Sunday – the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year 2025.
It is appropriate that today we have the Gospel of the Good Thief and the King in the Crown of thorns. It illustrates that, with Jesus, it is never too late to make a new beginning. No matter what we have done, no matter how we have messed things up, Jesus the Good King offers us mercy and hope – the possibility of the new start.
He gives us a second chance not only at the hour of our death, but every day even on today’s Eucharist. When we dedicate the day to Jesus, he removes the limits from our horizon of possibilities. He makes all things new and possible.

„The Lord will reign forever.”

- “At the same time, it is important to gain self-knowledge as part of spiritual growth – to know yourself and believe in yourself means you can know and believe in God. St. Augustine said, “fill yourselves first and then only will you be able to give to others.” Knowledge of yourself produces humility, and knowledge of God produces love.” (Mother Teresa – A simple path.)

Reflections
1. How do we explain the passive attitude of the people? In what ways do they resemble us?
2. How does the repentant criminal symbolize us? In what ways does he resemble us?
One Main Point
Down through history, thousands and millions of subjects have died for their kings, but Jesus is the King who dies for us. He accepted crucifixion as the climax of the perfect obedience to His Father.
