Today we celebrate the 3rd Sunday of Advent. This Sunday we call rejoicing Sunday, or Sunday of JOY, because we are very close to the meeting with Jesus in the feast of Christmas, (for that reason we use the pink color for the liturgy, we light the pink candle in the Advent Wreath too.)
We fill the season of Christmas in our surroundings very well: in the stores, at work even in our private homes. But we have to prepare spiritually ourselves on the coming of Jesus in our lives; not only in our exterior, but especially our whole interior side; our conscience.
The Eucharist is the straight way to prepare ourselves for the coming of Jesus. During the Eucharist especially at the beginning we repent and confess our sins, we hear the Word of God, we celebrate the Liturgy of the Holy Communion and after this we start our mission to be the messenger of the Good News to our neighbors in our daily lives.
„John heard in prison of the works of the Christ and sent his disciples to Jesus”.

One Main Point
THE GREATEST
John is the greatest. It is hard for these people to believe that one of them could be greater than Abraham, Moses, David, etc. How is it possible? Because he prepares for Christ. So naturally the people that Christ blesses would be even greater, and become the new greatest. Who are these? They are the poor, because God preaches to them the good news. Jesus turns the world completely upside down. No wonder even John could not understand.
Reflections
- Jesus said, “Tell John what you hear and see.” What do I hear and see? What does Jesus say and do? How do people react? What do I react in thoughts, feelings, and actions?
- Do I believe that Jesus’ kingdom is the greatest? What is so great about it? Can I see the greatest of God’s kingdom in my daily life?
- How am I poor, or not? How is Jesus’ good news so great for the poor?
