32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

veterans_day_2013Today we celebrate the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time and also the Veteran’s Day tomorrow.

We honor those who have served and have died; and we respect the sacrifice that they have made on our behalf and for our safety.

The month of November is also the time for our yearly prayer for our departed brothers and sisters. We do that with proud.

The Community of the Church is eternal, because in that community God is really working. We can get the eternity for ourselves when we believe in the resurrection of our Master Jesus Christ and follow his steps on the earth. It is very difficult to believe in our own resurrection. Therefore today Jesus Christ wants to convince us of our own resurrection and after this of our own salvation.

The Eucharist is the time when we come together to contemplate the eternity of God and to better understand our own eternity after the resurrection of our body.

Reflections

1. How do I define being alive, and being dead? Do I use my rules to define a good and successful life (physical attraction, material possessions, popularity, fitting in with the crowd, winning arguments…) or do I use God’s rules?

2. I pray, with his apostle Paul (2 Thessalonians 3:5) , that the Lord rule my heart in the love of God and the constancy of Christ.

 One Main Point

“God is not the God of the dead but of the living.” Life in God is different from life defined by men.
