The 34th Sunday in Ordinary Time – Christ the King Sunday

imagesCARKJKV3Today we celebrate the 34th Sunday in Ordinary Time. It is Christ the King Sunday – the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year. Next Sunday – the First Sunday of Advent – we begin a new Liturgical Year. So we are at the end of a Church year.

It is appropriate that today we have the Gospel of the Good Thief. It illustrates that, with Jesus, it is never too late to make a new beginning. No matter what we have done, no matter how we have messed things up, Jesus offers us hope – the possibility of new beginning.

He gives us a second chance not only at the hour of our death, but every day even today’s Eucharist. When we dedicate the day to Jesus, he removes the limits from our horizon of possibilities. He makes all things new.

This is something for us to think about it as we end a liturgical year and – next Sunday – begin a new liturgical cycle. It is a good moment to face our sins – our need for Jesus, the new person we can become in him. And to say to him, “Jesus, remember me when you will be in your Kingdom.”

Announcements

¨      My warmly Thank you to all people who helped us on the Polish Dinner and around it. We did great job. The Dinner was well done. The all visitors were very glad about the dinner. They see our Church as a friendly community and this is nice. I think that God first of all helps all people who are praying and working together for His Holy Church.

¨      The November is the month of the prayer and remembrance for our departed brothers and sisters. My Thank You to all of the people who remember of the deceased from your Family and Friends in the Remembrances (Wypominki) 2013 and for all your donations. The prayer is the big help for them. Also the reminder for us that we are not alone in the cosmos. God bless you.

¨       Do you have anyone of any reason (for example: someone in Hospital) or life event you would like to pray for – Please ask and see Fr. Andrew.

¨      If I seek fellowship with the Father, I will find Him in his word. (Andrew Murray – Treasures of Wisdom )

Reflections

1. How do we explain the passive attitude of the people? In what ways do they resemble us?

2. How does the repentant criminal symbolize us? In what ways does he resemble us?

One Main Point

Down through history, thousands and millions of subjects have died for their kings, but Jesus is the King who dies for us. He accepted crucifixion as the climax of the perfect obedience to His Father.
