29th  Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today we celebrate the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Today’s lesson from the Gospel concerns our dual life: spiritual and material. We are the people who are composed from the flesh which is the material and from the soul which is the spiritual. We as the Church, have to be the people of God, more spiritual than material. Today’s question from the Gospel and the response of Jesus: “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s”, this sentence must be our motto of our life. To be fair with all the people and to be fair with God.

The Eucharist which we now celebrate is our reminder: Did we are in good relationship with God and with the people or not. The response belongs to us and here and now we can make the good choice.

“Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.”

One Main Point

In responding to the question “Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?”, Jesus has wisely answered in according to the social justice and God’s law.

Reflections

  1. In my daily life, what do I do to make wise decisions in difficult situations?
  2. I usually think about being just and fair in relation with others. How do I respond to His love and His graces to me?
  3. What priorities do I give to God in my life?
  4. God creates me in His image. How do I reflect this image to others?
