21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

jesusToday we celebrate the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time. And today we have a very important question of faith to respond: Who is Jesus for me? He is my boss, or he is a stranger; maybe my friend, or an oppressor.

Today in the Gospel we have the exactly response for this question. Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, our Lord and Savior and the complete sense of our life.

Each Eucharist is also the exactly response for this question of faith. We pray in this worship exactly to true living God, we are in the community with others and we meet real Jesus, who is truly God and truly man. Some times we forgot about him, some times we are afraid of him. But first of all Jesus needs us as rocks for His Holy Church, even we are the smallest one and weak one.

Reflections

  1. If Jesus comes and asks me who he is, how would I answer? If someone asks me who Jesus is, how do I explain?
  2. Jesus called Peter to be the leader of his Church. In what role does Jesus call me to be?
  3. Imagine myself being present at Caesarea Philippi among the apostles; how does Jesus react (gesture, facial expressions, tone) to Peter’s answer? How do the apostles react when Peter is named the leader of the Church?
  4. Put myself in Peter’s position; what will I do for the Church?

One Main Point

Peter makes his declaration of faith in Christ. Jesus appoints Peter as the leader of the Church as well as the gatekeeper of the kingdom of heaven.
