24th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME; Solemnity of Brotherly Love; 14 Anniversary of 9/11

911aToday we celebrate the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time and the Solemnity of Brotherly love in our PNCC; on Friday we had the 14th Anniversary of 9/11; on Monday we will have the Feast – Triumph of the Cross – which reminds us that we are from the Holy Cross Parish and it is our proud and our challenge.

In Ordinary Time we got from God the question which is the most important question for our whole lives. This Question is about Jesus: who He is for us? The respond which we now formulate is maybe similar to the response of St. Peter from today’s Gospel: you are the Messiah (Christ) the Son of God. But the words of faith which we say in Holy Mass have to mirror in our daily lives by the deeds of that faith.

The Mass which we now celebrate has the two main parts: the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the knowledge and the practice of our faith. Our life as Christians has the same complexity: Theological Formulations and Life Implications.

One Main Point

Following Jesus is no rose garden. It will cost you everything.

Reflections

1. If you meet Jesus today, how do you answer his question: “Who do you say I am?”

2. In what areas of your life (relationships, priorities, family, career…) does “your way” still conflict with “Jesus’ way”?

3. What does the call to “deny yourself and carry the cross” mean to you personally? How do you apply that in your life?
