8th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today we celebrate the 8th Sunday in OT. This Time concerns our daily lives. And it concerns our special call to be disciples of Jesus.

Trust in the Lord! That is the strong message of the readings that we hear today. Never, ever think that God has forgotten you because that is simply impossible. For our part, we are invited to choose God and reject all that is not of God. The Gospel today is very clear that we cannot choose two masters at once.

The Eucharist which we now celebrate is our free choice to be with God and thank Him for his heavenly providence. We meet Him in spirit when we hear His teaching and we feel his presence when we get His holy food. After that special Sunday event we are prepared to serve Him in our daily lives.

One Main Point

A Christian’s sole concern is to seek justice, which is to seek the kingdom of God or God’s will

Reflections

  1. How many things occupy my mind? What is the relative ranking of the God’s kingdom in that list?
  2. How do I work for the kingdom of God? How important is justice in that work?
