1st SUNDAY OF ADVENT – Hope

Today we celebrate the 1st Sunday of Advent. What is all about Advent that makes this time so special? Preparation for Christmas is one thing, but that’s not all. Advent gives us a vision of our lives as Christians. Advent shows us the possibilities of our life.

Life is a continuous journey through time. A journey in cycles, like waves of the ocean, tides high and low and high again, on and on. Church liturgy clearly shows such a journey in faith, with a full cycle covering three years and then it is repeated. Each liturgical year takes a look at seasons and scripture from different point of view; In This New Liturgical year 2018 we will have in our mind the thought of Thomas Merton: “No Man Is an Island”. Doing that we want to remember that we are not alone in the world, that we Catholic Christians see and respect the other people who are around us. From the other side we need another person to be in relationship of love with him or she. Because this relationship is natural for us like fresh air to breath.
