2nd SUNDAY OF ADVENT – Peace

Today we celebrate the second Sunday of Advent. The time of awaiting Christ in the feast of Christmas and in our private lives gives us the real person as an example of being like that. The person which is very important for us today is St. John the Baptist. In the Gospel we will see him in the precise environment of time, place and living space. We see his three steps to be holier and closer with God. We have to follow his way to find happiness in our lives.

In the Eucharist, which we now celebrate we have the three steps of awaiting Christ by John the Baptist. 1. We go to the desert – we come to Church to find a place far from the noisy world, 2. We hear the Word of God – which realizes our sinfulness. 3. After Mass we proclaim this Word of God in our private lives by words, deeds and brotherly love. This is our way to salvation; this is our way to meet God.

Reflections

St. Paul instructs us that gratitude and thanksgiving are foundational to what our communities are to be. Think about it: Our primary gathering each week is called “Eucharist,” which means thanksgiving. We do as our Savior instructed us to do: we give thanks. The whole life of our parish should be a Eucharist.
