2nd SUNDAY OF EASTER

Jesus I trust in You

Today we celebrate the 2nd Sunday of Easter and the Sunday of Divine Mercy. On this Sunday we have the explanation of our goal for going to the Church every Sunday. It is the reason to be in the community of the Church to meet Resurrected Jesus who is alive and who brings us peace. For that we need the faith which will make us the image of God in our contemporary world. Today we need peace in our lives. We see many dangers starting from terrorism to the danger of our own health which can be cut off by some accident or cancer. We need the power to overcome it. And we see today that the only power to save us is Jesus Christ and his resurrection.

The Eucharist, which we now celebrate, is the same Eucharist which the disciples of Jesus celebrated on that first day of the week and the week after, when Jesus came and said to them “Peace be with you”. This Eucharist is the power for us to believe in the resurrection of Jesus and our own resurrection after our death. We have only to confess as Thomas said “My Lord and My God”.

“Thomas answered…, ‘My Lord and my God!’”
