26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today we celebrate the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time. In our lives is the time when we come to the Church for the worship of God and our own growth up in holiness. The Holy Mass is not only our duty but it is our privilege as mature Christian. It is our small step on the way to salvation – to heaven. This step is simply the consequence of our daily deeds.

The sin of omission – we simply did not do the good that we could have done. We sin through our own fault, in our thoughts and in our words, in what we have done and in what we have failed to do. The Eucharist is our time to break the obstacles in our lives, to see our future as a result of our past and present existence already saved by God. Therefore we praise God for that future and we can get the holiness by His grace here and now.

„From the netherworld he…saw Abraham far of and Lazarus at his side.”

Reflections

  1. How do you feel when you see a street person?
  2. How is the Gospel situation true of the present time? In what ways do you identify with the rich person?
  3. In what ways do you identify with the poor person in the Gospel?

One Main Point

Use our possessions wisely, they are on loan from God and have to be used to help the poor.
