13th Sunday in Ordinary Time; 4th of July

Today we celebrate the 13th Sunday in OT and on Tue we will have the Independence Day.

In this time we are touched by the important truth of the Kingdom of God. This truth is the great love of God for us and it proves in the death of his Son on the cross. Today we recognize the importance of love. We know very exactly that love is the main rule of Christianity and we have to know how to get this love and how to give it. Jesus told us that it is a question of loving and being loved, of giving and receiving. But very often we live in that way that this truth is not understood by us. The sign of the cup of cold water has to be for us the fine hint.

The offering of the Eucharist which we celebrate each Sunday is the special place where we find the great love of God to us by the gift of life and death of his Son. And we follow his footsteps in our private lives by showing our love to others.

“Whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.”
