23rd  Sunday in Ordinary Time; A PRAYER FOR AMERICA – On the 22nd Anniversary of 9/11

Today we celebrate the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time and also we will have tomorrow the 22nd Anniversary of 9/11. In our daily lives we have to deal with good and bad people, this relationship we call love. The good people are OK for us, but bad are so angry on us and we can’t accept them.

In today’s Gospel Jesus gives us the simple procedure of love in three stages how to deal with people who sins against us:

  • Approach the offending brother or sister person-to-person.
  •  If it doesn’t help. Go a second time accompanied by one or two trusted companions.
  •  If still is bad for you. Bring the case before the local church.

Today Jesus says to us that we have to make the communion, the fellowship of love/ because – for where two or three are gathered together in the name of Jesus there He is in the midst of them. The Eucharist is a real communion with God and with other people by our Master Jesus Christ.

“Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

One Main Point

Jesus is not just one in a crowd, but He is in the midst of a community – as small as a family or as big as the Church – because the soul of the community is love and love creates unity. The goal of the three-step procedure for reconciliation is to win the erring brother back to the community of love and unity, even the drastic step of excommunication is to jolt the offender into reconciliation with the community.
