5th Sunday in Ordinary Time

peterToday we celebrate the 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Ordinary Time is our time in the complete time of the Church. We are the basis of that period and we have to take responsibility for it. We have the individual call to do things which Jesus command to us in our parish but we have to recognize this by prayer and activate our lives to fulfil it. God’s invitation to each of us to participate with him in bringing his message of salvation to all mankind is the fact. The only baggage needed in following his call is to put our trust in him and do good things which he requires from us.

The Eucharist, which we now celebrate, is the first and good step to realize our call in today’s world, as St. Peter did in his life. We have the mission of the evangelization of our relatives, friends and neighbors, which we have to fulfil. We have to follow Peter’s example from the Holy Bible and make the statement, that we are sinful people and we are unworthy to do this; but if God wants from us to do this job we have to be obedient to His divine will.

One Main Point

God’s invitation to each of us to participate with him in bringing his message of salvation to all mankind. The only baggage needed in following his calling is to put our trust in him.

Reflections

  1. How would we respond when Jesus chose to come on board our boat and instructed us to cast out our nets for a catch?
  2. Would we be ready to give up everything like Peter, James and John to do what God’s calling involved?
  3. What did Jesus perceive when he said to Simon “do not be afraid,” why did he say that? What could we be afraid of?
