22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

lastToday we celebrate the 22nd Sunday in OT. Clearly our focus today is on humility. Humility has probably never been popular for anyone, even for the best of saints. On the other hand, lots of saints have practiced humility simply by always putting the well-being of others ahead of their own well-being. Humility does not mean acting humble but actually being humble and drawing no attention to ourselves. This is why generally truly humble people are loved so much. They make life easier for all of us, they take up the burdens and responsibilities of community without drawing attention to themselves and they serve others with joy.

The Eucharist which we now celebrate is the divine banquet for all of us. Here and now we meet Jesus who is our Savior and Lord. Holy Mass is the key to the narrow gate of heaven. Are we now willing to accept humiliations for the sake of loving God and others?
