1st SUNDAY OF ADVENT – Hope

hopeToday we celebrate the 1st Sunday of Advent. The Advent Season begins the new Liturgical Year 2017 which makes us closer to our salvation. The topic for the Year 2017 is: “Lord bless our Parish with new members.”. It reminds us that only God can bring new parishioners to our Community. We can ask Him of that by our prayers, we can make some arrangements by bringing some people to the Church – but the last word of acceptance and desire is in God’s hands not ours. From the other side we ask for the blessing of our Parish not for condemnation and God can do that by multiply our numbers. Especially when we go for Holy Eucharist each Sunday we can feel the joy and we can say thanks to God by our worship. God is so good and gave us a lot of things, for that we have to say Great Thanksgiving – we do Thanks to God in the Perfect Way of being the disciple of Jesus Christ.

The first period of the Church Year – Advent helps us to prepare ourselves for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in our lives. At the beginning of this season we want to be the Church watchful and ready for the second coming of the Lord. An advent wreath can help us get back the real “Spirit” of that season. Each week we light one more candle to mark our faith journey into our own Meeting with the Lord. Today we light the first candle which we call the candle of Hope, because Jesus Christ is only our hope on the last day of judgement.
