20th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today we celebrate the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Ordinary Time concerns us and our real problems. One of the problems in modern world is: who belong to the true Church of God. Jewish People who are chosen by God or pagans who believe in Jesus Christ. Today this question changes the base because many Christians want to say who is better Christian than the other.

Jesus praises Canaanite Woman for her faith not for her nationality. He grants her request, for his message was now reaching beyond the people of Israel. And we have to recognize and love all people who are doing good in the eyes of God. We can’t close our friendship because somebody is from some nation which we don’t like or is from some different economic status or race or practice different religion.

The Holy Mass gather us for worship of God through our Master Jesus Christ in Spirit and in Truth. Here and now we see and realize that everyone is our brother and sister in Christ.

Reflections

  1. Reflect on the woman’s extraordinary faith in Jesus; how is my faith in God?
  2. What are my attitudes toward non-Catholics who live Christian values?
  3. What are my attitudes to God when my prayers are being rejected?
  4. When others seek my help persistently, how do I react?
