CORPUS CHRISTI Sunday; Father’s Day

Today we celebrate the solemnity of the most holy Body and Blood of Christ also the Father’s Day.

On this Father’s Day we are praying for our dads, whether they are near or far away, living or deceased, and especially for the dads here in our congregation.

Today’s solemnity we call by popular Latin words the Corpus Christi /what means the Body of Christ. When we come every Sunday for the Mass /we can be sure /that this is the real meeting with our Savior Jesus Christ. We meet Him double: in the community of believers – in the Body of the Church and we meet Him in the Holy Communion in His Holy Body and Blood.

Jesus did this in order to be with us always/ that we will be aware of his presence in our daily lives. He reminds us that he is so close to us as the simple food which is bread and wine. We have to become the same as Christ the food for others. By our Christian’s attitude and words, we have to become the good food for all our neighbors in our surroundings.

“Jesus said the blessing over the loaves and fish, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.”

  • One of the most important – and most neglected – elements in the beginnings of the interior life is the ability to respond to reality, to see the value and the beauty in ordinary things, to come alive to the splendor that is all around us in the creatures of God. We do not see these things because we have withdrawn from them. (Thomas Merton – No Man is an Island)
