21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today we celebrate the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time. The regular days which we spend for any matters, sometimes more important sometimes not, are very special for our spiritual lives, because they direct us to the heaven, that’s mean to close relationship with God – which is love by capital L.

The Eucharist which we now celebrate is the time for the choosing the right way of our life. According to Jesus from today’s Gospel we have to choose the narrow gate – that’s mean the difficult one, not easy, though the today’s world suggests us different. We have to choose and find our own way to salvation and every time double check that we are on that good way. We have to strive, to enter this narrow gate to eternal life because it is open for us here and now in this Church.

„Strive to enter through the narrow gate.”

The soul that picks and pries at itself in the isolation of its own dull self-analysis arrives at a self-consciousness that is a torment and a disfigurement of our whole personality. But the spirit that finds itself above itself in the intensity and cleanness of its reaction to a work of art is ”self-conscious” in a way that is productive as well as sublime. (Thomas Merton – No Man is an Island)

One Main Point

We gain eternal salvation by being faithful disciples, by dying to ourselves and following Jesus to Jerusalem.

 Reflections

  1. To strive to enter through a narrow gate, what changes do I need to make in my life that I have been putting off?
  2. In what way am I called to become last?
