28th Sunday in Ordinary Time; Heritage Sunday

Today we celebrate the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time and the Heritage Sunday. Today in the Gospel we have the beautiful picture of the parable of the wedding banquet. The example of the banquet in the theology of our Church immediately associates with the Eucharist, which is the Great Supper of our Lord and King Jesus Christ. Everyone is invited by God to celebrate this Supper; but so many people refuse the invitation because of something else most important to do. We accepted the invitation and are on the banquet right now, but we have to be in proper garment of our good deeds as Christians.

The Eucharist which we now celebrate is a foretaste and an anticipation of the Messianic Banquet, which will be like the wedding banquet, according to today’s parable. We have to prepare for it by our every Sundays Masses.

„Many are invited, but few are chosen.

God invites each of us to participate in His salvation program. To respond to this invitation, we have to live according to His will.

Reflections

  1. Imagine myself participating the wedding banquet. What do I observe around me? What is my attitude? What are other people’s attitudes?
  2. Remember the last time I receive God’s call. How did I respond?
  3. What do I concern most in my life? My job? My financial condition? My career? My spiritual life?
  4. What do you think about God’s compassionate love and His perseverance to receive us?
