20th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today we celebrate the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Ordinary Time concerns us and our real problems. One of the problems in early church was: who belong to the true religion. Jewish People who are chosen by God or pagans who believe in Jesus Christ. Today this question changes the base because many Christians want to say: who is better Christian than the other.

Jesus praises Canaanite Woman for her faith; not for her nationality. He grants her request, for his message was now reaching beyond the people of Israel. And we have to recognize and love all people who are doing good in the eyes of God. We can’t close our friendship because somebody is from some nation which we don’t like or is from some different economic status or race or practice different religion.

The Holy Mass gather us for worship of God through our Master Jesus Christ in Spirit and in Truth. Here and now we see and realize that everyone is our brother and sister in Christ.

“O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.”

Announcements

  • Thank you to everyone who helped with the Polish Summer Food Sale at Holy Cross.
  • As the members of our Church we are responsible for our future and we will pray and look for new active members of our Community of Holy Cross in Baltimore, MD.
  • Do you have anyone of any reason (for example: someone in Hospital) or life event you would like to pray for – Please ask and see Fr. Andrew.
  • MY MISSION: When I am the disciple of Christ and the member of his Church I realize this and participate in all matters which concern Him. The Sunday’s Masses are not my challenge but my privilege and my eternal hope.
  • As I was conversing with the hidden God, He gave me to see and understand that I should not be reflecting so much and building up fear of the difficulties which I might encounter. Know that I am with you; I bring about the difficulties and I overcome them; in one instant, I can chage a hostile disposition to one which is favorable to this cause. ..(See Diary #788).

Welcome Our Visitors

We welcome all our visitors who are present with us for worship this Sunday! Please introduce yourself to the Pastor after Mass. Please write your names in the guest book located in the vestibule of the church. Please remember that you are always welcome to join us in worship at Holy Cross Church.

One main Point

The extraordinary faith of the woman and her humble prayer touches Jesus.

Reflections

  1. Reflect on the woman’s extraordinary faith in Jesus; how is my faith in God?
  2. What are my attitudes toward non-Catholics who live Christian values?
  3. What are my attitudes to God when my prayers are being rejected?
  4. When others seek my help persistently, how do I react?
