CORPUS CHRISTI Sunday

Today we celebrate the solemnity of the most holy Body and Blood of Christ – popular we call it the Corpus Christi.

When we come every Sunday for the Eucharist, we can be sure that this is the real meeting with our Savior Jesus Christ – in spirit and in body.

The symbols, the gestures, the music, and the form of our worship are all here to unite us with God. We are Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. We are liberal, conservative, and indifferent. We are old and young, male and female, married and single, traditionalists and innovators, saints and sinners, guardians of the past and social revolutionaries. All of us are here forming the one Body of Christ by receiving His Holy Communion. We are here to be sent out by those doors /to be Christ’s very presence here on earth. You and I have a mission – to make the presence of Christ real in our world around us.

“Jesus said the blessing over the loaves and fish and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.”

One Main Point

This passage clearly refers to Jesus’ institution of the Eucharist. Eating his flesh and drinking his blood provides a salvation that has life (v.53), has eternal life (v.54), and unites with God (v.56).

Reflections

  1. When I receive the Holy Communion, is it the flesh and blood of Christ? What makes I believe so?
  2. I eat and drink everyday to live. What do I consume to lead me to the eternal life
  3. Jesus was challenged by the Jews about this special food and drink. Have you ever been challenged by others about your faith in “Jesus the bread of life?” What is your reaction?
